How about a competition to get you off to a flying start...........
"Congratulations on Finding the UK’s search for the most creative New Business idea for a mum!The competition is aimed at anyone who fancies winning the prizes – women, mums or business mums – it is simply a competition to win great prizes.
Have you always wondered about starting your own business working from home? Do you think you have an original, creative, or unique idea for a business? Enter the MumsClub competition to see if you will be voted most creative/unique business idea by mums already in business working from home.
PLUS! Our thanks go to entrepreneur Peter Jones who has donated our special prize for an established Mumpreneur to demonstrate how she intends to expand her business over the next 5 years.
here’s why we’ve launched this competition
To recognise the achievements of the UK’s current mumpreneurs and,
To inspire more mums to join the work from home revolution!
and here’s what we’re looking for...Being creative, original and unique in business is the way to make a difference, and that’s what we’re looking for. The winning idea doesn’t necessarily have to be a revolutionary new invention, we want to find a great way for a mum to set up in business from home and start generating an income, it could be:
* taking a product or service that is currently available and marketing it differently to make it new and unique,
* a creative way of getting the kids involved in helping you out,
* finding a new use for a product that’s available now,
* a product that would make your life easier but it’s not out there already,
* a service you could provide to make other Mumpreneurs lives easier,
* a new idea for a product that every household should have, but doesn’t
* a fun way to make money from your kitchen table
* a talent of yours that you could sell, or teach?
* something you’re already doing which is simply fab and you want to shout about it!
* or something completely wacky and off-the-wall!
* ...as long as it’s original!
If our panel of judges choose your idea, you’ll have access to top prizes to help make your business a success, as well as great prizes for your family, all supplied by Mum’s currently running business from home, and are MumsClub members.
We hope that as well as coming up with what could be the UK’s most creative new business idea, you’ll be inspired and encouraged to go for it yourself, if of course, you haven’t already!
You can enter as many ideas as you like, all that we receive will form part of a new section on our website to provide further inspiration and ideas for future visitors to the site so if you want a personal mention or credit for the idea then be sure to give us your website address for a link back.
All entrants must supply their creative idea for a new business, it can be a single line, or one sentence but in no more than 300 words.
If you need any inspiration for your entry simply take a look at our marketplace and our forums to see what mumpreneurs are already doing...see if you can do better!
Good luck and We hope you’ll have fun, both with this competition, and the prizes!
Download the entry form from our prizes page!
The closing date for all applications is November 1st 2008.
Winners will be announced December 1st 2008."

Why Buy Handmade?
Why buy handmade? | ||
Buying Handmade makes for better gift-giving.
The giver of a handmade gift has avoided the parking lots and long lines of the big chain stores in favor of something more meaningful. If the giver has purchased the gift, s/he feels the satisfaction of supporting an artist or crafter directly. The recipient of the handmade gift receives something that is one-of-a-kind, and made with care and attention that can
Buying handmade is better for people.
The ascendancy of chain store culture and global manufacturing has left us dressing, furnishing, and decorating alike. We are encouraged to be consumers, not producers, of our own culture. Our ties to the local and human sources of our goods have been lost. Buying handmade helps us reconnect.
Buying handmade is better for the environment.
The accumulating environmental effects of mass production are a major cause of global warming and the poisoning of our air, water and soil. Every item you make or purchase from a small-scale independent artist or crafter strikes a small blow to the forces of mass production From www.buyhandmade.org Click & Go to make your pledge: |

Win Win Win SnugBaby Carrier
Win a SnugBaby sling!
Win a ready-made SnugBaby baby carrier in their fantastic Autumn competition.
A word from SnugBaby:-
"Our SnugBaby baby carriers are made from our most popular base & panel combinations. The slings are reversible, plain on one side, with a patterned accent panel on the other.
SnugBaby baby slings can be used from birth right up to toddlerhood, and your child can be carried in a number of ways - on your front, on your back or on your hip. It is easy to tie and very comfortable to wear, thanks to the way the baby's weight is distributed through the wide padded straps, meaning that it is your back, and not just your shoulders that take the weight of your bundle of joy.
And even if you don't win - not to worry, we also have 2 pairs of BabyLegs leg warmers to give away to runners-up."
How to enter
Just answer the question here and you'll be entered into the draw to win a SnugBaby ready-made sling of your choice.
The small print:
* Last date for entries is the 30th September 2008
* The winner will be chosen at random from the correct entries, and notified by email by 6th October 2008
* Information you provide will be kept by SnugBaby, and will not be sold, or otherwise provided to a 3rd Party

Baby Massage
Baby Massage
The Benefits
- Baby massage can be a good thing for both parent and child because:
- It's a good bonding experience - a good way for you and your baby to get to know each other and to spend a bit of quality time together.
- Studies have suggested that physical contact is good for babies, improving their breathing, circulation, digestion and growth.
- It provides a good source of sensory and muscle stimulation, which is beneficial to all babies, but may be particularly good for babies with special needs, such as developmental disabilities and Down's syndrome.
- Baby massage is even claimed to combat postnatal depression in mothers, according to a BBC News Report on baby massage and post-natal depression.
- It relaxes both parent and child.
- It's fun for both of you.

The Launch is coming soon finally......................
I have created a range of tots clothing, not dictated by the various trends. I hope you will find my creations practical, fun and affordable. First and foremost practical cute little front pleated wide leg jeans minus the 30 pockets you find on kids pants now a days, what does a 3 year old need pockets for when they have mums Mary Poppins bag to fill with sweet wrappers, half sucked Jammie Dodgers and a crushed snail plus they are a total pain to iron.
I update the store on a weekly basis and soon if I haven't developed RSI in the meantime I will have a range of funky lounge wear (pixie hoodies, sloppy monkey pants that sort of thing) and the boys will get to look funky too with their own Cubs togs.
So I hope you come along for a visit, I have been working immensely hard for you lot and I will try and keep up with this blog, giving you sneaky peeks at new stuff and a general insight into the life of a sewing machine slave/mum ahem Entrepreneur.
